THE VERDICT
Arguing today's litigation news
A reason to pay more. Next persuaded the Employment Appeal Tribunal that keeping its warehouses staffed justified higher basic pay than store workers received for work of equal value. The findings on certain night and overtime premiums and paid rest breaks still stand.
Another sensor injunction. The Unified Patent Court has granted Abbott a second UPC-wide preliminary injunction against Sibio, this time targeting the rival's GS3-R glucose-monitor system. The Milan panel also heard Sibio's late arguments about how to read the patent claims.
THE DEAL
Wheelin' and dealin' today's corporate news
Surviving under a new name. Publicly listed WaFd will survive its agreed $3.9B reverse merger with EverBank as the holding company, renamed EverBank Financial Corp. WaFd Bank will merge into EverBank N.A., preserving EverBank's OCC national charter. EverBank shareholders will own about 59.2% of the combined company.
Plenty of private money. Mistral raised €3B in a Series D valuing the French AI company at more than €21B post-money. Samsung led, with the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity co-leading. Its CFO told Reuters there are no ongoing IPO discussions.
Passing on project risk. Deutsche Bank is working on its first significant risk transfer linked to a project-finance portfolio, Bloomberg reports. The reference loan book totals about €2B and includes data-center debt; terms are still under discussion with investors.
Alright, back to billing. That's all, folks!
